Ahh, bugger - I was hoping you wouldn't encounter this... Without going into the whys and wherefores, the linux kernel only allows drivers or modules to be of a certain size. With 'native' drivers this isn't a problem, as they can be programmed to meet these requirements. As Ndiswrapper uses the Windows driver, there is no control over the size, and consequently all sorts of problems can ensue. Although the size is 4k, you can override this limit in the kernel, which most distros do routinely. Fedora however do not, which results in the problem you have encountered, known in the trade as a kernel Oops. If you have downloaded the 16k kernel from Linuxant, you should install it using a command such as

Code:

rpm -Uvh <rpm-file>

where <rpm-file> is the name of the rpm you downloaded from linxant. Don't forget to do this as root.

Judging from your previous posts I suspect the kernel you will need will be the 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.stk16smp version from this page.

The file is zipped, so unzip it by going to the directory that contains it and type

Code:

unzip ./<zip-file>

before attempting to install it. Once you've done all this, reboot and try the make, make install and load process again.
I have read you need to disabel/remove the 4K stack to a enable/nstall the 16K stack but how do i go about doing this?
I have already downloaded the 16K Stack
Now I have the driver and hardware present, and all is fine when I type depmod -a

But when I type modprobe ndiswrapper I get all this:
[root@localhost ~]# ndiswrapper -l
Where is your file called bcmwl5.inf?
In this case it should be in the same directory that you are in when you run the command. If it's somewhere else, you'll need to say so. If the file was in, say /home/me/broadcom, you'd need to type:

Code:

ndiswrapper -i /home/me/broadcom/bcmwl5.inf

This is called defining the 'absolute path'.

When you became root, you probably just typed

Code:

su

but root needs to be able to get to 'special' paths, so needs to have it's own environment read. In the code you showed above, it has the following lines:

Code:

install -D -m 755 loadndisdriver /sbin/loadndisdriver
install -D -m 755 ndiswrapper /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper
install -D -m 755 ndiswrapper-buginfo /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper-buginfo

This shows that the commands have installed to /sbin and /usr/sbin.
To enable root to be able to incllude these paths, open a new terminal and type

Code:

su -

That's su with a space then a minus sign after it.
Now if you try top run your ndiswrapper scripts, you should find they work. Good luck!

Yay, we're getting there! GCC is the Gnu C Compiler. It's what is needed in order to compile C programs. If this is not installed, you'll need to install the software development programs. From what I can remember of Fedora, there's actually a section you can tick in the package manager for software development. I would suggest you do that, install all the programs it suggests, and then try again.

ok I have done as you said and the Kernel I have in /usr/src is 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4-i686

so when I now do the 'Make' command I get this now:

[root@localhost ndiswrapper-1.4]# make
What is this gcc that seems to be causing the error?

In a terminal you can just do

Code:

cd /usr/src

then type

Code:

ls

That's a lowercase L.

Otherwise use a GUI file manager.
