Recommending Mint to new users is a good idea. I guess it will take the effort out of installing a lot of the propriety stuff after default installations.

I actually did one install of xubuntu for someone, but installing and going through how things work can take a pretty long time - as i found.

Perhaps I could do it as a class presentation one day

Why not point them at Mint and if you're feeling really generous, boot them up a live disc to show it off. And if you really want to push the boat out, do a demo install.

Hi, there have been a lot of people asking me about Linux in college. I usually recommend them Ubuntu/Xubuntu and tell them to read the help guide on the Ubuntu site. They still come back to me a few days later and ask the same thing though.

Are there some video tutorials or something you can recommend for complete Linux noobs? I haven't been able to find a good series on YouTube.
