Nagios is pretty good at telling me when they die, then a combination of power restore setting in bios and wol seems to work quite well. Shame I can't get nagios to tell me if chromium is displaying correctly...

UPSes aren't just for servers, they are for anything you don't want to be broken by a power cut.

Servers and kiosks have one thing in common, they don't have an admin sitting in front of them who can react to a failure like this. The first you know is when users complain... or walk away.

1) & 2) Usually 300 miles away, and as fun as remote desktoping though ssh tunnels is every day, I'd rather not...

If only I had waited ten more minutes...

So turns out if you run chromium in incognito mode you don't get the bar.
So for any googlers that turn up here:

So I have some pcs running chromium in kiosk mode (full screen) acting as digital signage. All it well

Until a powercut.

I have chromium auto starting, which is fine, but I get a bar across the top saying "did not shut down properly...". Does anyone know of a way of getting this to go away?

Alternatively is there some way I can make a script to 'move' the mouse then 'click' on the X, without actually having a mouse plugged in?
