As a tired and jaded journalist, very little surprises me. But I nearly choked on my toast this morning when I saw Roger Waters on the TV.
Roger just doesn't do interviews. And certainly not for the fluffy, pretend news program BBC Breakfast.
You could sense the collective failure to understand of the audience (and to be fair, probably the presenters) as Roger explained that his new rock opera, based on the French Revolution, had many parallels with the current world situation, where the dispossesed and disenfranchised underclasses rage against the oppression of elitist have-it-alls who believe they enjoy the mandate of heaven.
He also said he enjoyed doing Live8 and hoped the Floyd could all play together again sometime. Blimey
